Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you build with us.

  • Do I need workout experience to take a class?

Not at all. BBI is designed for every level — whether you’re brand new to strength training or you’ve been lifting for years. Every movement can be modified or progressed so you can train at the level that makes sense for you.

  • What types of services does Built By Ilyssa offer?

BBI is more than group classes. We offer strength training classes, 1:1 private training, Build Reviews for body composition tracking, and nutrition coaching to help you build both inside and outside the studio.

  • What should I bring to class?

Bring yourself, water, and shoes you feel comfortable strength training in. We provide the equipment you’ll need for class — just come ready to work. ⚡

  • How should I prepare for my first class?

Plan to arrive about 10–15 minutes early so you have time to find parking, check-in, get settled, and meet your coach. Eat and hydrate beforehand!!! Don’t stress about knowing what you’re doing — that’s what we’re here for.

  • How do I book a class?

Classes can be booked directly through the BBI website through the Class Schedule or Membership + Pricing pages. General booking opens 7 days before class, while Built Unlimited members receive priority booking 10 days in advance.

  • How do memberships + class packs work?

Choose what works best for your routine. Unlimited memberships are best for those training consistently, while class packs give you more flexibility without a monthly membership. Your available credits and bookings can all be managed through your BBI account.

  • What is the cancellation / no-show policy?

Life happens — we get it. Because classes are intentionally kept small (capped at 12 spots), late cancellations and no-shows are subject to a $10 fee so spots remain available to members who are on the waitlist.

  • How often should I attend classes?

There’s no magic number, but consistency matters more than doing everything at once. For most people, 3–4 strength sessions per week is a great place to build from depending on your goals, recovery, and schedule.

  • Why do workouts repeat throughout the month?

Because random workouts don’t build strength — progression does. Repeating movements gives you the opportunity to improve your form, increase weight, build confidence, and actually see your strength change over time. We train with intention here.

  • Where do I park?

Parking is available at the studio, and specific parking instructions will be included in your booking confirmation so you know exactly where to go before class. We recommend giving yourself a few extra minutes on your first visit so you can park, check in, and get settled without feeling rushed.
